Allegory of the Plague

The logo of Doctor Schnabel’s Plague Museum is based on this Sienese cover from around 1437 in the Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin. The plague is depicted as a devilish death, spreading contagion by its arrows. The arrows hit his victims right where the buboes will appear; armpits and neck.
